Garden Benches & Seating Arrangements

To really enjoy your gardens and gardening, there are the moments when one sits on a garden bench to breathe in the surrounding or to take satisfaction from hard work well done. Seats or a garden benches provides not just the functional response to this moment but a positive contribution to the garden as a focal point, destination or incidental pleasure.

When resting on a bench in the garden’s tranquility, the mind starts working.

There are many, I mean MANY, options to choose garden benches or garden seating. Wooden, metal, stone or concrete are the most common materials. You may find seating which are more formal seating, or leisure snugged away in a romantic or scenic spot in your garden, or simply to create a comfortable or relax seating area on your patio or deck.

In this post we will focus on how to make your own benches and seating out of low cost or recycled material, to make it your own and unique. The big advantage of making your own seating out of, e.g. recycled pallets, is that if you are not happy with the result you can so easily redo it, as the cost is extremely low. Want to use some cider blocks and a couple of beams? Very easy to reconfigure, repaint, or remake.

Think about it in this way: as your garden matures, the plants, flowers, as well as your patio or deck itself need to evolve and mature, and that means your seating and other none-living elements of your garden need to evolve with it. DIY benches are the perfect choice to accomplish that.
